Lasia spinosa (split leaf form) is a different clone of the species with divided leaves. These leaves are green and segmented. Plants can usually grow from 4 to 7 feet tall with a beautiful black twisted flower. The petioles (stems) are green and have thorns down them. Plants are aquatic and grow best in soggy soil or in water. Best to keep the water warm 50F and up. Plants grow from rhizome like tubers. Plants sold are 1 foot tall cuttings.
